Location: Drake School
Have you ever wished your 1st through 5th grader could travel back in time to see what things were like 100 years ago? Without modern technology and transportation, large schools with hundreds of students, and fast- paced lives, it is hard to imagine what life was like way back in 1900, in a one-room schoolhouse. BAHS invites students to spend a day at a REAL one-room school– Drake School in Benzie which operated 1891-1943. Find out how they played and learned without computers, buses, cars, and big playground structures. What were the locals like back then-- and who were they? Walk on stilts, play fun games, make crafts and much more! Your authentic pail lunch and snacks are included.
This program is offered through College for Kids and registration begins April 2 through Northwestern Michigan College. Three scholarships for Benzie County students will be available through NMC thanks to the generosity of Benzie County Community Chest.
